GP Process Engineer Review

Pros

Lots of opportunities for knowledge sharing within sister facilities under the GP umbrella. Corporate training programs are interesting but are intermittent throughout your first two years. Easy interviewing process if you understand and implement their Market Based Management verbage.

Cons

Hard to get capital projects approved since their approval process goes through numerous levels of management, up to corporate level. Might start off with a decent salary but then raises are hard to come by for salaried employees. Typically have to work above and beyond to show you have created lots of "value" to the company. They hire based on character and expect that you can teach someone to be a good engineer, but in my opinion you need both. Soft skills will get you far in this company. It is also difficult to challenge things.

Pros

Great place to get started and get involved in projects out of school. Culture varies team to team - some are great, others have not yet embraced the MBM culture.

Cons

The value of fulfillment is not understood by this company - either monetarily or otherwise.

Pros

This site was a Buckeye Technologies site purchased with last 3 years. Peers are hard working and good to work with. The concept of Koch Market Based Management may eventually make the site functional and a pleasant place to work.

Cons

The functional group hierarchy are silos that cause disconnects impacting the organization and site as a whole. There are unrealistic project and operations demands for the amount of people causing excessive work and on call hours. Basically plan to live for the company with little reward. Management as a whole is not supportive and the opportunity to advance is dim. This site is in Flux trying to change from Buckeye processes to new GP processes and there is a struggle in almost every level and department. There has been alot of turn over recently for a site that typically has employees 20+ years.
