Pros

Great benefits. People first culture. Fantastic place to work.

Cons

May not get as competitive of a salary as with industry, but benefits offset lack of compensation.

Pros

The team I worked with was great. They were brilliant researchers who cared deeply about the impact of their work. The pay and benefits are competitive for research positions at academic institutions. The work-life balance is much better than many organizations.

Cons

Publishing in open venues can be difficult due to the nature of the work. GTRI is a mix of academic and industry, it can be hard to tell where you fit. Field office employees definitely have to advocate for themselves more to avoid being overlooked. Experiences may vary by laboratory.
