Good benefits but can be a negative work environment

Pros

Really enjoyed the retirement benefits and healthcare was also not bad. Somewhat flexible with regards to working hours when working in the labs. Salary seemed fair (but not great). Great resources for anyone wanting to do research.

Cons

When I had trouble with my boss, HR was very unresponsive to my concerns. I'm not one to complain unless really necessary, so I felt disappointed that no one seemed to care about my issue.

Graduate Research Assistant

Pros

Able to participate in advanced scientific research. Nice campus. Strong reputation in undergraduate and graduate studies. Full tuition for graduate research assistants.

Cons

High student fees are levied every semester on GRAs, even when no classes are taken. High athletic fee that goes to support the varsity sports teams, which may not be of interest to some students. This fee was increased the year GT fired their football coach, who had 4 years and $4 million remaining on his contract.
