Pros

Great culture in the NRE department-professors are great, very easy to talk to, and there's a lot of variety in research. Students are also very laid back-brilliant, but unpretentious and very willing to help each other out.

Cons

Bureaucracy is a mess; the nuclear department is part of the mechanical school, so student services is spread across maybe 3 buildings and 4 offices, with little indication of where to go if you need something. The financial aid and bursar's offices don't talk as much/as often as they should, so financial aid often doesn't appear on your statement until the last minute.

Pros

Working with young college students is always a great feeling; as most are anxious to learn what you have to teach. Teaching different course work; not in a classroom environment.

Cons

late hours ; by the time you commute its 10:30pm; only 1.5 hr per day. the rate of pay is mediocre (not bad) but the amount of hours is horrible. Can't live off this income or anywhere near it. Hope you like working 3 jobs, cause this one job isn't significant enough to pay bills.
