Pros

Georgia Tech is really all what you make of it. You can have the best time if you're in a good program with a good advisor; on the other hand, you can have a terrible time if you have a terrible advisor. All in all, though, all of the engineering programs are top-notch and you will (if you make it through, that is) end up with a quality, respected, and solid education in engineering fundamentals. If you want a PhD, Georgia Tech is a good place to do and living costs in Atlanta are fairly cheap. Try and figure out what you like about it.

Cons

The place is very high-stress but is manageable with good time-management. Some of the departments (PARKING especially) are notorious for making students' lives hell, but if you know how to work the system you'll figure out what to do and what to avoid in order to avoid headaches. It is absolutely necessary to have good time management skills; otherwise you can end up getting very far behind very quickly. There is kind of a sense of depression and stress amongst the students here but there are still plenty of ways to keep yourself happy. Try and avoid the parking department.

Pros

If you want an easy job, have kids and want a pretty easy gig then this is your place. If you're far along in your career then I wouldn't recommend coming here unless it's a pit stop to have kids and then move on. There are very smart people at the top but nobody really shares that knowlege. The peer staffers are siloed and don't really communicate across other depts. I'd say if you're just starting out it's probably a good first stop but I would say that it would be a place where a career goes to die. No mas.

Cons

Pay stinks. Mostly staffers are lcd. Some very smart people coupled with the lcd.

Pros

It is highly reputable technical institute for engineering but not for sciences. It is in a midst of a city like Atlanta so there is a lot of industry interaction. Many top recruiting firms come to recruit here.

Cons

The Electrical Dept is too big and it is no longer a very selective institute in terms of admissions. So the student quality has reduced drastically over the years. The library is not good at all and you are not compensated well as there is no uniformity in the salary structure.
