Pros

- Major R1 research university - Atlanta is a great city to live in - Smart undergraduate students - Prestigious university

Cons

- No pay raises for 4+ years (including COLA) - Often pays below market rate - Doesn't match competing salaries - Doesn't retain best employees - Poor family friendly environment at times (no paid maternity / paternity leave; limited short term disability for pregnancies; outrageous day care costs that increase 5% annually) - Increase in administrators, increasing administrative salaries;

Stimulating place to work

Pros

A very creative and intellectually stimulating place to work. The faculty and students are exceptional. There are many lectures, classes, business plan competitions, etc. that challenging your thinking. I find most faculty, administrators and students open to new ideas and initiatives.

Cons

Salaries have been frozen by the State of Georgia for the last 5 years. Also, Georgia Tech HR limits salary increases for internal promotions to higher level positions by putting a 10% or 15% cap for the new position regardless of the increased responsibilities and market value of the position.
