Pros

Some hybrid opportunities, good educational and professional development benefits, 13 paid holidays plus vacation and sick leave, usually positive learning environment, an atmosphere that tends to feel like you are a part of something big and meaningful.

Cons

Lean staffing with common practices to hold multi-faceted roles with high work loads. Very rare to receive any kind of raise or cost of living increase. Internal policies limit pay increases to 9.9% even if receiving a promotion or changing positions and pay grades entirely. Internal human resources policies recommend that internal candidates be de-prioritized over external candidates and that transfer between USG institutions be limited, including a written policy that an internal candidate's supervisor be contacted to determine impact to the institution prior to any verbal or written job offer being made to a candidate. New employees are likely to make more money for the same role as employees who have been employed in that role for 5 years.
