Pros

This job allows me to work intermittently and fit in doctor appointments, allowing me to choose days worked, subjects, and grade levels. It also keeps me in poverty so I can qualify for State of Arizona Medicaid, AHCCS. It has a low entry level qualification which includes a special substitute certificate from the State of Arizona which only requires a Bachelor's in any subject not necessarily Education, a certificate registered at the County Seat (Phoenix), a clean background fingerprint clearance card, all your childhood vaccines, and adult booster verifications, a TB test, and 3 professional references, and not even an interview is all that is needed to be accepted as substitute teacher. No COVID vaccine required.

Cons

Cons, will since I don't want to get noticed by a principal in order to be hired on as a regular teacher the lack of prestige in this job which I encountered while being interviewing for other business jobs is a downfall. A con which I also listed as a pro is that this job keeps me in poverty. As a Substitute you are not included in any teacher collective bargaining, and you are considered a noncontractual employment at will employee. Career opportunities for someone looking to enter the teaching full-time field great, but for a person trying to get a job in the district Business office, poor.

Pros

Schedule and breaks are great

Cons

This review pertains to the Nutrition Services. Management at the top is horrible, with constantly changing standards and rules. They travel from school to school in groups to just stand around. The cliques are part of the culture, with gossip galore. Schools and employees and pitted against each other. The employees are either amazing or horrible. No in between. Huge amounts of employees openly brag about a lack of formal education, with blatant racism and classism on full display. The food is absolute garbage. The "dietitian" should be ashamed of themself for poisoning our children with such ultra-processed garbage. Sanitation is a huge issue among certain employees, with unsafe food handling practices. The grift on the tax payer's dime should be illegal. Money is wasted at an alarming rate in terms of labor, food, and equipment. Perfectly good facilities have been replaced due to a "use it or lose it" policy so funding can be maintained. There are minimal redeeming qualities in the Nutrition Services department, and the things I've mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg.

Pros

State Retirement is great. If

Cons

Teaching is more difficult now than ever before.- Everywhere. Kids aren't respectful or responsible, and many of the parents are worse than the kids.
