Pros

Commute, Gym, Cafeteria and of course good looking mostly empty building

Cons

No future to this company. IBM employees who came on board makes more money than veteran employees here. If you are applying for S/W engineering position in certain divisions, you are wasting your time. Especially in IT,CIM,MT.

Pros

Malta, New York site is very impressive - $15B site. Very well funded A lot of very bright and friendly engineers and managers

Cons

Business processes vary by department - no central quality organization at Malta site. GlobalFoundries is a conglomeration of companies that each have their own distinct cultures. Bureaucratic mentality prevails in much of the organization - it will be a long time before this organization can truly optimize - due to political conflict over customer interest. CYA mentality is present if not pervasive - for good reason. From a global market perspective, GF is the 3rd horse in a 3 horse race
