Not the best, but not the worst

Pros

Able to work from home in most engineering positions, and there was an effort in the past to help eliminate micro-management. It may not have been effective in all areas, but in my area I am no longer micro-managed, since it's a style that doesn't allow me to work to my potential.

Cons

Upper management is completely out of touch with what's going inside the cleanroom. There's a push to save money that's been going on for so long, all suggestions for cost savings would require us to take on jobs that we should not be doing, or puts tools and products at risk. The result of management's cost saving measures could potentially cost much more than they save. But something has to make it onto paper, so they push stupid suggestions.

Pros

They have a bright future as a company because they are focusing on technologies that don't compete with established industry giants.

Cons

They only have a bright future because of their very hardworking employees, especially at levels 4,5 and 6, who do not get compensated fairly. Raises and base salaries at these levels are not competitive at all but HR will tell you they are because they do not have any other company to compare to in Vermont. It is a GF monopoly here, so you have to accept what is being offered if this is your preferred location. Career growth is very much subject to office politics and quality work is not evenly distributed among engineers so that they can show their strength. If you are a new grad starting out, it can be an OK option for starting out at GF (if there is no other option), but recommend changing companies later if you are even remotely ambitious and want fair evaluation of your work.

Pros

Money is competitive and work is challenging

Cons

Required to work on vacation days, often with 90 work weeks. Gender bias is really terrible. Management has little respect for staff and their lives outside of work. Often threaten employees with working longer hours or they'll be fired. Female coworkers are constantly bullied. HR does nothing.
