Pros

Paid vacations/ sick days/ partial holidays off. Available benefits, and paid training

Cons

PAID BY CALL -Upper management is oblivious to the whole department. -Internet server constantly goes down resulting in loss of pay -In the past year, this company has changed policies which have resulted in up to 25% reduced pay per representative. -Customers are not happy with the changes, and are extremely volatile on almost a call to call basis which results in higher call times and less pay. -Towards the month of October, they will start training employees for Open Enrollment in Part D. These calls are much longer as the customers require massive amounts of information, and Torchmark will not change your pay schedule. -Extremely low upper mobility. I had applied for a different position on four separate occasions and was told each time that they were "no longer accepting applications for current employees"

Pros

The company provides many avenues for personal growth & development. You can start in one department & cross train which will open limitless possibilities & career paths. Should you ever leave the company what you learned there will prove to be a valuable asset to other companies.

Cons

The customer service department could use some revamping. Though it's a nice department to start in, it doesn't seem to hold a very important role in the helping the company obtain its objectives. Hence, the people who work in the department's morale is exceedingly low.

Pros

It is easy to move up Working downtown Steady stock 401k option

Cons

Very little work/life balance. 65-70+ hours every week and 7 days a week can become common. This included working through the holidays, and management refusing to close the company when we got hit with the first major OK blizzard. They let us go after the work was done and didn't care we were stranded in a huge snow storm. Poor treatment of employees. Not much time or money is allotted to training. Nothing in the way of bonuses unfortunately, you get one a year and it's 25 bucks on Christmas. 10 cent raises on your yearly review are very common. Huge turnover. Unprofressional culture. It is not uncommon to hear employees bash each other, gossip, and upper management bashing lower management. Technology. They order the bare basics of all software which causes tons of additional man hours to do work that could easily be done through one time purchases of software. Think Open Office, Doc Matrix printers, and Windows 95 or XP. Poor health insurance.
