Pros

Got to use the cool laser cutter.

Cons

Company treated frontline staff poorly, laying over 26+ full time staff off (some hourly and some salary) with no notice. They didn't even have our manager talk to us first, instead sent a general email and cut access during a video call to connect with colleagues. The company didn't listen to needs of both customers or staff trying to support them and backtracked on initial expectations set upon hiring. We were hired under the expectation to never do phone support, which was added and then we were required to do for up to 8 hours/full shifts. Customers and staff didn't have many resources to support success of laser cutter use out of the box, and the marketing team even showed the laser cutter in promotional and tutorial videos in ways that it literally couldn't be used safely. We all applied to a listing that listed the job as a permeant full time role, only to find out at the last moment that it was actually "temp to hire" but the "hire" part never actually happened.

Pros

All of the people I worked with were fantastic. The benefits and salary were great, and the product is easy to get behind and be excited about. Not to mention that you get to take one home!

Cons

A lot of people care so much about social issues (which is wonderful) that I think they struggle with working at a for-profit company, and so there was regularly drama arising from employees disagreeing with business decisions for ethical reasons that were as diverse as the people were (which is to say, very). People would call out the CEO on all-hands calls, but would refuse to bring up their concerns with him one-on-one in his open office hours. Others were very vocal on Slack about their specific political beliefs, leading others to clam up for fear of being on the wrong side of an issue.
