Pros

Working on the stand and selling the calendars and chatting to nice customers in shopping centres.

Cons

The company basically under ABN and Licence agreement demand extremely long working hours and low commission with many UNPAID HOURS or hours whereby you are assembling stands, counting and categorising thousands of calendars that they send to you in no order most of the time. I was then charged thousands of dollars at the end of season which was FULL PRICE for the calendars when the customers practically got them for nothing at the end of season. It is downright EXPLOITATION. Many demands, suggestions of hiring staff when you work out you are only earning about $10-$15 per hour. Many costs such as truck hire, staff to help set up stands and move into shopping centres, scanning stock to other stores, stripping barcodes, NONE OF THIS IS PAID FOR. Even had the cheek to ask licensees to take competition entries, and then type all the names and email addresses of them!! many hours work as well. The commission offered and the sales targets were achievable, but mainly because I worked extremely hard, and am a top salesperson, upselling etc. I would not recommend anyone do this . It is akin to slave labour, and to charge full price for missing calendars taking thousands of dollars off me, and not supplying a REPORT even listing the titles. I am taking legal action against this company. What a CON< and the company needs to be investigated which I am organising as well. It can be classed as a SHAM CONTRACT if it is proven, they set it up to basically obtain SLAVE LABOUR. At the end of season, not even an email thanking the slaves. The stand they supply is not able to be policed properly at all, when serving at the POS you are unable to see any other customers. The cover at night they supply can easily be lifted and trolley filled with calendars. No alarms, no security lights, nothing to deter shop lifters like cameras, WHY SHOULD THEY SUPPLY ANYTHING WHEN THEY ARE RECOUPING EVERY CENT off unsuspecting Licencess. AND NO PROOF EVEN OF WHAT THE CALENDAR TITLES ARE!! it is a CON , a SHAM and exhausting. You cannot AFFORD ANY HELPERS unless you want to work for $5 per hour. A lot of stands do not even reach the sales target so their commission payments even worse. They did at least pay on time each week. They withold a deposit, and your last two weeks payments until you pack and send their equipment back. MANY MORE UNPAID HOURS OF WORK, they then deduct from those amounts kept. Banking is expected to be done every day even when working late nights. This is downright DANGEROUS and I had to avoid gangs of teenagers waiting around the bank. Extremely stressful. So the stand itself was good to work on. You were not allowed to sit down during the day, and somehow you were supposed to have someone in to be on your stand one hour a day so you can go and get lunch??? What the hell? who on earth is going to come and work for one hour. Totally unrealistic but very CLEVER SETUP on their behalf. However I will now be putting their SHAM CONTRACT to the test with Fair Trading Commission etc and suing them for my thousands of dollars kept.

Pros

Enjoyed talking to customers and learning about the different categories of calendars...the state manager was very helpful with setup and during our 6 weeks there but thats where it all ends.

Cons

The budgets set for this particular store were way off target especially considering it was a trial store. Halfway through my 6 weeks I questioned the amount of money versus the hours worked and indicated I was not willing to continue working for an average of $10-11/Hr...It was indicated to me that if I continued for the 6 weeks that CC would subsidise my income as they have a special fund set up for trial stores if they do not perform according to budget. Well guess what after my 6 weeks I get a call from the "moron" of a retail manager to say they would not subsidise my income and they were only paying the commission based on sales. Even though we exceeded all their KPI's with ad on sales, banking on time and return of all their equipment etc they were not paying me anymore which was a complete turnaround from their earlier statement.....VERY DISSAPOINTED to say the least... I feel I was taken advantage of for a trial store and CC management don't give a toss how many hours you work to run their business. I put in 75 to 80 hrs per week not to mention the week at home putting together the stands hiring a truck to take them out to the shopping centre and then again hiring a truck to take them back home to disasemble them and repack them for shipment back to Melbourne ( plus using 5 friends that are required to help on setup night and pulldown night till 11pm both nights not included in the 75-80 hrs worked) I had to work all the retail hours myself with some help from my wife but to be able to hire someone to work some hours was not an option when I was only earning $10/hr...no-one would work for that amount. I feel I was lied to by management to see the 6 weeks through knowing full well that they were not going to compensate me for the miscalculation in their budgets that supposedly are worked out by some geniuses in their office and by which I made the decision to work the Kiosk....lies lies and lies all designed to con someone into taking on their Kiosk.
