Pros

Go1 manages to attract some pretty great people, pay and benefits are pretty good

Cons

The company went through a period of hypergrowth and completely blew it. They acquired numerous companies on the hopes of keeping their customer base and deprecating the products, but as most people know, the customers usually leave with the product. So that was mostly a waste. Trying to sort out that mess has been time consuming and chaotic for everyone involved and likely caused the core business to suffer. The companies whole premise of being the largest content aggregator isn't paying dividends and they were not able to attract the large, enterprise customers they needed to make that profitable. The rest of the product is pretty weak and doesn't help with customer retention. This has led to constant shifts in strategy, none of which seem to work. Churn is incredibly high and new sales are below target which means customer facing teams aren't getting their payouts. The poor performance of the company is leading to huge amounts of turnover with numerous people, up to and including VPs staying for less than a year before moving on. This makes thing even more difficult as institutional knowledge continues to dwindle. Just 8-9 months ago there was talk of an IPO, now that seems unlikely as the company could easily be making 25-50% less revenue in 5 years time if current trends continue.

Pros

There is so much opportunity to make positive change. Everyday I feel like I can make a difference in our goal to reach one billion learners and also to scale up the operational and governance side of the business.

Cons

There is a lot of work to do. Like with any scale up, we are lean and being good at prioritization is a key attribute to be successful here. That is not always easy with many competing priorities and projects.
