Pros

Awesome product Talented leadership + Peers Rocketship Great onboarding, very thorough Armed with great tools They really follow the operating principles that they post on the website

Cons

They are growing really fast, which means a lot of learnings can be missed and sometimes lofty goals come off as being set for no reason. Raising quota in Q1 (a historically slow quarter) and then cutting books in half in order to accomodate new hires drastically impacted quota attainment especially for the Commercial and Mid-Market segments They also don't track how long reps work, so when they raise quota or change account books, its short sighted and doesn't take into consideration how many hours reps work just to hit 100%

Pros

It's like getting your MBA in sales, best growth I've every experienced in my sales career. Looks great on your resume and recruiters will be overloading your inbox.

Cons

Zero job security/ work-life balance. PIP culture is unlike I've ever seen before. They hand out unreachable PIPs like lemonade on a hot day. Once they trim the fat, the remaining workaholics inherit all your deals and over-achieve - making it look like everyone is crushing it. Then posting it all over LinkedIn, making it look like Disneyland. Don't accept an offer unless you speak to at least a dozen AEs across different regions and segments.

We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Growth and development are top priorities at Gong & we're delighted to hear you’ve found our sales environment enriching. It was obviously hard to read your concerns regarding job security and work-life balance. Since Gong was founded, our goal has been to create a workplace where every employee is treated equally, feels valued, and has the support they need to succeed. We understand that a healthy balance is crucial for overall well-being and productivity, and we are always looking for creative ways to weave this into our culture (e.g. recharge days). I value all feedback; please reach out directly if you’d like to discuss in more detail. - Suni Lobo (CPO)

Pros

Best in class product. Amazing enablement and onboarding

Cons

Gong sells the dream to candidates in the interview process. You are promised an abundance of inbound leads and told most of the reps are "printing money". Maybe at one point that was true, but it is no longer the case. If you work here be prepared for an intense amount of micromanaging, with a suffocating Coaching Plan /PIP culture. Another review on here states that the coaching plans and pips made it seem like "the sky was falling at all times". Which is the most accurate thing I have ever read. In early 2023 there was a reorg that restructured the segments. Commercial seems to mostly be doing well, while Mid Market is left to starve and produce 90% of their own pipeline. Its not realistic and leads to severe burn out. The SDR engine is broken. All of this resulting in the worst sales culture and team morale. Everyone is stressed and miserable. Due to the pressure from leadership, we are made to feel like WE are the problem we aren't successful, we are lazy, and to work harder.

Thanks for your candid feedback. We're glad you appreciate our product, onboarding, and enablement, but reading your concerns about org changes and sales culture was difficult. We are expanding in a dynamic market, and evolving as we grow. We continuously seek ways to enhance our strategy in response to market and customer needs, and occasionally, this leads to changes, but the success of every team and every employee is always a top priority. We apologize if your experience has fallen short. Feel free to reach out if you wish to discuss this further. - Laura Wilson (Intierm CPO)
