Pros

Gong has continually exceeded my expectations in every aspect - leadership, commitment to diversity, balancing agility/GST and setting the business and employees up for long-term success. I'll break down a few highlights that really stand out: Leadership: I can't say enough how good it feels to have seasoned, thoughtful leadership across the board. Amit and the whole executive team know what they are doing and it's visible in every decision that they make. But they're also endlessly humble, responsible, authentic, and the absolute best cheerleaders. You'll regularly see the C-Suite calling out employees in Slack for the great work that they do. People programs: Since going remote, Gabby and the team have gone above and beyond to deliver a wide variety of awesome and engagement programs. Zoom workout classes with trainers? We got that. Coloring class for your kids? Got that too. Meditation? Cooking classes? Game nights? All of the above. Commitment to diversity: Gong's BLM response was real and action-driven. As a new employee, I didn't know what to expect. But I was surprised when the company held a company-wide open mic essentially where anyone and everyone could share ideas for how Gong can bring more diversity to our own business and give back to our community. Then, they acted on it. Nearly all of the initiatives we set out to do are in progress - changing hiring practices and building a diverse candidate pipeline, building out ERGs, offering services and products to organizations we believe in. It comes from the top, but it also comes from everywhere. Employees individually stepped up to do the work which tells you a lot about culture. People: My team members at Gong are some of the most creative and hard-working individuals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. If you see Gong everywhere on LinkedIn, it's because...the SDRs are literally getting public shout-outs from their prospects for creative/compelling messaging. THAT IS NOT NORMAL. You see folks from every team writing blogs, speaking on podcasts. Gongsters are truly the best in their field and it is inspiring to work alongside them.

Cons

Work/life balance, which is to be expected at a startup. Tough in an all-remote environment. But they're doing everything they can to combat Zoom fatigue and keep people energized. Expectations are really high. Some might see that as a con, I see it as a pro though. People around you are always delivering.

We appreciate you taking the time to provide candid feedback on your experience at Gong. We strive to have a supportive and inclusive culture where employees feel valued and that they belong. That hasn't been your experience, and I apologize. We believe in transparency, and Glassdoor serves as a listening tool for our leadership team to understand how employees are feeling; while some Glassdoor reviews are difficult to read, we truly value all feedback. Glassdoor doesn't allow companies to alter or remove reviews, but even if that functionality existed, we believe every individual experience counts, and open, honest feedback helps us improve. Feel free to reach out directly if you wish to discuss this further. - Suni Lobo (CPO)

Pros

- Raving fans - Gong's product is top tier, loved by customers, and Product builds things based on customer feedback. - Teammates - Gong generally hires strong talent, and while a large portion of the company is fully remote, the bonds between teammates are still quite strong despite that. - CEO does a really nice job of being involved with customers and also building a community with employees (like if in town, he hosts a lunch or happy hour)

Cons

- Lack of diversity (especially at leadership) + women in leadership. Gong 2 years ago looked different from the Gong of today. With the new CRO coming onboard in mid-2023, the company revenue leaders are beginning to feel like more straight white men who come from Utah, and the culture and morale of the Revenue organization has turned - nobody feels energized or excited. - Lack of leader transparency: we've had many senior leaders turn over (whether by choice or by being pushed out) - it started in Sales, then moved to Customer Success and Ops, and both leaders and reps aside are being trimmed. - Changes in roles & responsibilities of Customer Success - more responsibilities, more involvement in the commercials, unclear if our compensation will actually increase - With quick product evolution comes the need to stay on top of the changes. - Lack of career progression: given the company is not growing as rapidly as it was in 2020 and 2021, many CS reps are stuck in roles for longer than they should be, unable to get promoted to a higher segment or even senior roles in their existing segment

Thank you for sharing your feedback. It’s great to know that you appreciate the remote flexibility, sales training, and development. However, reading your feedback on your experience with culture, compensation, and management was challenging. We strive to support the entire team in reaching quota attainment and provide training from Enablement, & manager coaching during weekly 1:1s for development to help sellers thrive. If that hasn't been your experience, I apologize. If you want to discuss further, my door is always open. - Suni Lobo (CPO)
