Pros

Discounts Generally good people and peers you work with on a daily basis

Cons

Where do I even start - There is little to no opportunity for raises or promotions. They want you to work more and take on more responsibility with no increase in pay, and in such a regulated environment that just increases your chances of getting fired as well. I worked for a previous company that gave me 2 raises in a year with annual performance reviews before Good Day bought it out. Good Day then capped managers at $16 as far as I know while I was stuck at $18.50 as a budtender, with no opportunity for overtime either. No promises towards a raise, no annual performance reviews. They also completely erased my previous company profile along with about 50+ hours of PTO I had built up and never used, with no reimbursement. The pay gap between upper management and the employees in store is absurd too. My managers would complain all the time about how hard it is just to pay for life and family and kids, meanwhile our regional manager was bragging about buying their first house to us. Upper management has a superiority complex towards employees working in store, and we had absolutely no say in how anything was done. There are multiple examples I could provide but in essence things grew more and more inefficient as the people not working in store or having any experience as a budtender whatsoever dictated the work flow. The company implements a “point system” with no leniency for sick days or tardiness, and it is near impossible to negotiate your schedule. If you are 4 minutes EARLY to your shift, you get a point. If you are 4 minutes LATE to your shift, you get a point. All adding up to 5 which is when you are terminated. If you are out of sick pay and you get sick, tough luck. Living 30 mins away from the store I would run into a lot of traffic so this was hard to hit every day, and when I asked for a change in scheduling that would make this easier on me I was denied time and time again. The company cares much more about the company and marketing than it does its employees, products, or customers. They got rid of our security and said over and over they were hiring another company but never did. Oh, and throughout the entire year that I had worked for Good Day after they took over, they ignored a serious mold issue in the building and instead made remodeling under company branding and repainting to company colors the priority. It took me filing an OSHA complaint for them to actually do something about it. The company bought 20+ dispensaries at the same time they had purchased ours and rebranded under “CODES”, pushing the “local” aspect of the brand. Meanwhile, at least in our community, we did absolutely nothing. 90% of the time we had to do our own lawn care because they never hired a lawn care company no matter how many times we had neighbors complaining. No events or involvement in anything, even though the community always had things going on. There was zero push for education to consumers, and instead they wanted us to talk about the marketing teams “feel good states” that they had made up as opposed to the legitimate, proven medicinal studies that have been done on cannabis. Not to mention, any sort of incentive or prize given for competitions or reaching goals were extremely minuscule. No joke, my prize for making the company the most money in a specific week was a cookie cutter. Others got pens. Any samples we received from our own company were either expired or unusable most of the time, making it extremely hard to push our own products. All the company proved to me was that they care infinitely more about branding than anything else.
