* Career growth for engineering managers is a struggle. The company made the mistake of over hiring so many mid/senior level managers during the pandemic. But the growth didn't happen. In fact, the opposite where headcount was removed. Existing managers that have been at Google are "stuck" and senior leadership doesn't seem to want to get rid of these new managers or promote from within.
* The 2023 - 2034 layoffs have eroded psychological safety. I've seen many talented engineers and manager get their roles eliminated which leaves the remaining member to pick up the extra load.
