Too much beaucracy

Pros

State benefits that help those in the right position

Cons

They coddle under performing workers too much and the make it real hard to let go of them under the guise of some "woke" methodology of giving way too many chances. No wonder the university is losing money with under performing employees doing the bar minimum to collect state employment benefits

Lack of leadership causing mass exodus

Pros

Most of the "boots on the ground" folks are extremely helpful to fellow colleagues and live the student-centered educational mission of the institution. My former colleagues were the highlight of my work.

Cons

Leadership, or lack thereof, diminishes the good work folks are doing. New administration started in summer 2020 which was an understandably difficult time to begin a new role anywhere, let alone a leadership position. That being said, the new president (Cheryl Green) is prone to gas-lighting her subordinates. She takes credit for the work of others and is disingenuous. As a result, morale is at an all-time low, and productivity and innovation have decreased. No one is inspired and students are noticing. Many folks leaving the institution in the new year and more resignations are coming.

Poorly run/horrible pay

Pros

Some students are eager to learn

Cons

A truly aggravating place to work. If you are an adjunct you are treated as an after thought. The pay is less than minimum wage per course. Little or no support from academic management, which is bloated with people just collected salaries and writing memos. Not with the hassle unless you need resume fodder or extra cash. A diploma mill where they treat all of their employees as expendable cogs.
