Pros

Love the level of investment in team members and the focus on developing and promoting internally. Great rewards and benefits package. Wide range of opportunities company-wide.

Cons

A sense of instability over the past two years as the company went through several major changes, but starting to see positive results already!

Pros

Celebrated 17 descent years here (when management was flatter, less layers, and senior leadership all had grey hair); strong PST (double digits or greater); great MIP; many opportunities for development (various business units: GIS, GGS, Acklands, LabSafety, Caribe, MonotaRO, and Zoro). Great place for employment out of college.

Cons

Numerous organizational changes over the past 5 years; no one is safe; no loyalty for tenured employees (they are the first to be reorg'd out); many layers now; more bureaucracy; younger senior leadership team who does not value contributions of experience seasoned employees. Capped PST contributions; difficult environment for women of color; difficult for men of dark complexions.

Pros

Good benefits, great co-workers, awesome profit sharing, stable company with longevity, many business units and areas to move around to.

Cons

Lack of promotional opportunities for people of color (outside of sales). Overall diversity numbers are good horizontally, but as you travel up the pyramid there are very few people of color in senior leadership positions. The company has many "BRGs" business resource groups (affinity groups); but this does not translate into opportunity for people of color. Promotional opportunities are selective--very political. You must know individuals and they must know you. Retention is an issues (especially for new employees with fresh ideas). Leadership does not seem to value tenure employees. New managers with very little people people skills are constantly being promoted into management position because they might have been good at managing a process; or "knew" someone; but have no clue how to motivate a team. Company is 20-25 years behind in technology, systems, and reporting.
