Pros

Pros of Granite would be the Career Opportunities; company is growing rapidly and wants to take on driven individuals that will contribute to the success of themselves and the company. If you are one that wants to grow and move up within a company, Granite is the place to be. If one masters their skill set in a specific area, the ability to move within the company and take on a different role is always an option and looked highly upon, which has created many long term employees. Granite as a whole is debt free and a very stable company. I have seen many employees go elsewhere then when speaking with them months later, they wished they had never left as their situation is not as good. Additional pro’s would be the hard work you put in does not go unnoticed with upper management; the trust and reputation you build upon yourself will depend on your success and essentially your finical standpoint. If you are a hard worker looking to excel into a career, Granite gives many opportunities to so; in my personal experience more so than other companies. Lastly some additional pro’s in bullet point format regarding quality of life: • Close to public transportation (North Quincy T Stop and Bus Lines) • 2 free gyms, one located within either building (one gym has multiple cardio machines where there is typically no wait as well as a dedicated Cross Fit Area) • Jeans Day (aka Charitable Friendly, every Friday the company is allowed to wear jeans with a small donation and all donations are given to a selected charity) • Side Activities- not only do we work hard from 8am to 5pm, we try to get to know each other outside of the building to build on our relationships. There are free seasons / classes all year wrong that lets you get in shape, stay active and get to know your employees and co-workers at a different level (i.e. Softball League, Soccer League, Flag Football League, Golf, Yoga, Cross Fit Classes, MMA Classes, Weekly Bowling … the list goes on).

Cons

Cons – recently I have seen many long term changes put in place, which is amazing to see, but the company still runs as a smaller company in many instances, which we are not these days. Need to see more changes that incorporate quality of life and long term efforts to sustain employees (i.e. snow days, laptops, maternity packages). On a final note, for Cons that are seen, but yet I wouldn’t always agree to; as stated above Granite has a great ability to transfer within the company, with that you see many former employees writing hasty reviews and or comments regarding specific jobs and their experience. From experience and being with Granite for many of years I would bet that they didn’t take into account all the advantages of Granite and try to find a better fit for themselves. There are many departments and teams as well as areas looking to build, if one is unhappy speak up to find a more enjoyable place for oneself. Not everyone is going to get along and work well together, additionally people are going to outgrow their jobs and want new challenges; at Granite, there are so many opportunities to join a different team, different department that better suits your need. Lastly, more trust must be given to management to enforce policies and procedures and to allow for changes when necessary. Company could be much more efficient in many areas, if voices were heard and changes were put in place.
