Pros

Plenty of opportunities to move up within the company if you apply yourself.

Cons

Given Graybar's 150 year history, change is slow to come by with such entrenched traditions.

Pros

Great benefits, opportunities to transfer, plentiful career opportunities as people retire.

Cons

Rigid corporate environment. Poor operations systems (ordering, inventory, project management). Lack of support for sales unless you played office politics and got the district management on your side. Uneven spread of internal resources. Company officers are often in their 60's and lack new ideas or a fundamental understanding of modern technology or work methods. Low starting pay compared to competition. OSR's are expected to work 60 hours/wk minimum and be in the office to "look accountable" regardless of if that is best for their sales or not. Layers and layers of "account managers" or "business development managers" who siphon off profit from the SR but do no actual work on the account.
