Pros

Fun Plants and Great Co-Workers

Cons

The first few weeks or months will seem fun. The owners will treat you like you were heaven sent. Until you have a more intelligent idea than the owner (which isn't difficult). After that, you will be bullied and set up for failure just so the owner feels better about himself. Anyone with any kind of plant knowledge will be treated like they're incompetent. The owners of this business will talk bad about other employees around everyone else. J occasionally has temper tantrums and stomps around like a toddler. L calls her staff "space cadets" when they forget something. There is no work-life balance. J would call people early in the morning on their days off and get angry if you didn't answer. They prioritize business growth and not employee growth. A good year equals a big new greenhouse and no raise. Benefits are terrible and only offered to specific people. If you're looking for a job that makes you cry often, bullies you, and has narcissistic tendencies, then this is the job for you.

Pros

Looking at plants was nice but it was not enough to distract you from the condescending remarks from the owners

Cons

I wanted to love working here but I quickly realized how awful the owners were. Online they seem so caring and friendly, rest assured it is all made up for instagram likes. J and L regularly make employees cry and then make fun of them behind their backs. They both push ableist work ethics— even in their hiring adds they push being physically capable under the guise of ‘hardwork’. The level of micromanagement is detestable. Both owners bring their marital problems into work and condescend each other over the walkies. Owner L speaks to all of the women in staff like they’re idiots. J intimidated staff members when unionization flyers were posted in the break room. Shortly after they cleaned house and are hiring new staff a month later. Low pay, poor benefits, makes staff drink fertilizer for fun. J would rather take pictures of himself in a flower basket then actually learn about how grow plants properly.

Pros

Awesome coworkers and cool plants

Cons

The carefully crafted social media facade does not reflect the two people that own the company. The owners never wanted employees, openly admit it, and treat their staff as a burden. Bare minimum benefits just so they can say the offer them. Expected to work in dangerous weather conditions. Extreme micromanagement. Constantly contacted outside of work hours. Having a healthy work/life balance is discouraged.
