Great Mission, Bad Culture

Business Outlook

Pros

—Great mission and vision —Good compensation —Plenty of opportunities for stretch projects

Cons

—Immature leadership —Culture is transactional, disrespectful, condescending, impatient —There are no consequences for mistreating employees —Lack of empowerment —No work-life balance; the expectation seems to be that Guardant will be your life. The co-founder/co-CEO named here on Glassdoor has on several occasions said, "Cancer doesn't sleep, so neither can we." It's not uncommon for employees to work 12-16-hour days with little or no "thank you." —Many managers treat employees like commodities — in fact, I heard one SVP refer to his team members as "commodities" — than human beings. —Co-founder/co-CEO named here on Glassdoor represents many of Guardant's worst attributes: transactional, disrespectful, condescending, impatient. —It appears the only way to get any appreciation is to agree to all of your manager's requests — no matter if it's within scope — and to work all the time (nights, weekends, etc.) —I look around and see a lot of good people leaving; you can only take so much before your mental health starts suffering.

Pros

Catered lunch, lots of OT, flexible hours

Cons

Supervisors and managers do not acknowledge you. They will not say hi to you in passing. Pay is poor with no incentives and no raises. Once you are in you are stuck where you are.
