Pros

Mutual company with decent benefits. Professional sales force. Unfortunately, sales force abilities are not reflected in home office employees. Definitely not a meritocracy. A real good olde boy or girl company for promotions.

Cons

Results not seem to matter. Senior management across the board is promoted based on who people know and not results. We constantly hear the phrase "transition year" when behind goals. Unfortunately, transition years never seem to end. Home office has become very politically correct and ability doesn't seem to matter. Company seems to be headed downhill rapidly under new CEO.

Pros

Fairly relaxed environment, although a few of the managers are very difficult to deal with and operate in silos to protect their "turf".

Cons

Weak senior management teams in the business units without charisma or business school training. Just a buddy network for promotions and opportunities. Employees not one of the few in the buddy circle are treated like 2nd class citizens.
