Pros

Some of the people were fun to work with, but then they left. I do believe the Montessori Method is the best way to educate a child.

Cons

Where do I start? Over the course of my time working there I saw every issue you could think of, from not having air conditioning in 95 degree weather, to never having support for special needs children, and not keeping the facilities maintained. Basically working for this company is like working for a vampire. They expect you to go over the top with everything while they pay you next to nothing. They are paying lead teachers LESS than $25/hr to live in Southern California. Thats less than $4000/month in an area where the average rent is around $2500/month for a one bedroom apartment. They don't give annual raises and the ones they do give amount to less than 5% at best, so with inflation you're actually taking a pay cut. This is one reason why all the good people are leaving. Just this month I heard that the entire elementary teaching staff in the local area, assistants included quit. If people are quitting in droves this clearly isnt a place you want to work. The saddest part is that we come into this kind of work because we want to help, to make a difference, and this place has made multiple people change their minds

Pros

I personally have stayed at this company so long because of my students. My students are my reason I stay. Not because of the company.

Cons

The company is focused on enrollment only, instead of the overall well being of the staff. No days off, work year round and little support in handling behavioral issue in the classroom are just a few issues that come to mind. ( side note: There needs to be a massive HR change because the turn over rate at in this company is insane. I believe it is because staff does not get any mental days off. Yes, we do get PTO but it is earned over months of hard work and mental drain… many of the teachers don’t last that long to get their PTO. I believe there needs to be a couple of days throughout the year that are given to the staff for mental rest that do not include just Christmas Day and Thanksgiving. ) Staff training is a joke. The veteran teachers are the ones that are really training the new staff, I believe there needs to be one staff that is dedicated specifically in hands on training because many new teachers that go through the videos and online training at GP have no real understanding of safety procedures or how to properly document injuries.) This is an issue, I am passionate about my students safety and feel like something in GP needs to shift to address this. Being a veteran teacher and monitoring 24 students in a classroom while trying to explain firer drill protocol, lock down drills, ouch reports and explaining how to interact with students / parents is NOT the place for it. It divides attention from safely monitoring the students. That’s why I think their needs to be a veteran staff member that’s not admin to be dedicated specifically in training staff members.

Pros

Being with the children is the only good thing

Cons

You are too busy with trying to add schools all over that you forget about the current schools and current issues. Our meetings are ignored and or forgotten about. You only care about the bottom dollar. The hiring process is ridiculous. You need a management team to meet each other. To be a HOS and have a AHOS that doesn't do anything or refuse to go in rooms is not a great teammate to have.
