Pros

The overall employee atmosphere site-wide is friendly, most fellow employees are willing to teach/train new hires. Company has a high focus on employee safety.

Cons

As far as the Materials department goes, management is very distanced from its labor-force and has been for some time. Hourly employees are being rated twice a year by management that genuinely has no idea what their people do for the company or their job functions. HR is a joke, at least at the Dallas facility, complaints are either directly scoffed at or not acknowledged all together. Unfortunately, the only way to dispute anything is to utilize the company's Ethics line which is directed out of the main site in GA, so no face-to-face time with someone that actually cares. HR is not knowledgeable of he benefits the company offers, you have to contact the insurance/benefits companies directly to get any questions answered. There is a high visibility of favoritism when it comes to who receives additional training (which is preferred/required when trying to advance). The Materials department management is very un-empathetic toward employees with children or disabilities. They enforce an atmosphere where employees children/medical issues are at least second in line after the department demands. While I think it is probably widely understood in the wide world of employment that you are "just a number" to which ever company you work for, it's not right to publicly make an employee feel that their job is going to be under fire because of a single instance where there is a sick child at a school/daycare, or a personal medical issue. Again, these are issues at the Dallas site, specifically in the Materials department and do not reflect the company as a whole.

Pros

Great reward for hard work- plenty of training, good insurance, freedom to move about the company when established.

Cons

Good Ole boy mentality, clicks in which you "have "to belong, I was there 16 years and let go without reason or notice. Narrow minded management that has old school policies- manage with fear
