Pros

Block is stellar at hiring. They find brilliant minds that are humble and talented, and you will grow from working with these people. The work is exciting, and there's a lot of chances to make a difference in consumer-facing design.

Cons

Pay and promotion scale are dismal. When I first was hired, my salary felt fair because they were taking a gamble on someone with less experience. But even after stepping up and going above and beyond my job description and consistently receiving praise from direct- and upper-level management, my salary has barely increased to match inflation over the last two years. I began a raise conversation myself and the process was completely opaque. No conversation or chance for me to negotiate for what I feel I deserve after what I contributed. Block stands in the way of its own employees' advancement and causes them to seek other opportunities, leading to high turnover and chaos in upper management often. Also, the healthcare benefits are a joke. I have a $13,500 deductible. I'd be better off seeking out Medicare.
