      ESOP shows excellent returns to employee

      1. Over reliance on utilization as metric for day-to-day workers 2. Top heavy structure. The average worker is expected to cover the cost of significantly higher wage earning managers with little real acknowledgment or appreciation from management.

      Projects are great, pay is good

      Managers don’t distribute workload to young engineers, higher ups don’t appreciate the work that young engineers put in, managers are always too busy, management is not good, they ignore you and treat you like a number rather than a person

      Top of the line A/E Firm

      Pros

      Good colleagues to work with - great camaraderie Benefits are similar to the best A/E (AEC) Firms - pretty good. Depending on your office location management is fairly ok with a flexible schedule (at least since 2020). HDR is an ESOP. Company stock price has performed well for the past 10-15 years.

      Cons

      Its a legacy firm with a lot of senior folks with an old fashioned mentality, however, senior management is putting lots of efforts to change that image and I'd say they have done a pretty good job so far. Managers in certain locations/offices dont like the flexible work schedules and want you to come to the office similar to pre-covid days. Training budget for younger engineers may not always be available as needed.
