Pros

-Excellent mentorship with world-class professionals to learn from. -Range of projects such as Healthcare and Science/Technology allows for exciting work. -The corporate machine is well-oiled, so materials, design programs, and experts are plentiful and easily accessible. -BiWeekly staff meetings gave necessary updates and allowed the time to ask questions. -Pushes the use of new technology which allows young users the opportunity to work with great design programs such as Grasshopper and Dynamo. -No project is done alone: Collaboration is important and you always have plenty of help. -The company works with previous successful interns, and makes an effort to hire them full-time if all situations are just right. -Expectations kept me on my toes. This experience was challenging in a very positive way.

Cons

Not many cons: -Once in a while there was downtime waiting on projects to start, but this allowed the opportunity to work on graphical projects such as entering design competitions.

Pros

I was hired as HDR was acquiring another company that hired me originally. HDR has done a nice job keeping the smaller company I work for informed about the whole process and we even got a small raise at the end of the year. It also provides us to acquire more projects internally so we do not have to compete for outside projects because HDR is so large and has such an expansive reach.

Cons

It is more of a corporate environment and the salaries are less competitive than at a smaller private company. There is also a lot more red tape than there was previous to the company's acquisition.

Pros

Good benefits and good work environment, learn all kinds of trades. From roadway to facility work as well and that is great for experience. The supervisors are very helpful and want to see you succeed as you go.

Cons

It's hard to stay safe all the time but we do our best to stay safe on the roads, we put safety above everything
