Pros

Large company that handles many interesting projects. Employee owned

Cons

Incompetent managers who do not understand the sections they are responsible for, so they fall back on the comfort of bureaucracy. Managers only care about the price of their stock and could care less about lower level employees. Employee family needs are inconsequential to company bottom line. Managers take credit for subordinates successes to boost their own company image and pay.

Pros

HDR has a great culture and opportunity to stretch yourself with some great people. I appreciate the flexibility they have shown through the pandemic. Good variety of work and access to mentorship.

Cons

Texas employees impacted by the winter storms are being asked to use PTO or take unpaid time. Texas employees, who are already worrying about how to get food or potable water, are now having to think through how they will pull off an 80 hour week to just break even on a paycheck. Mind that this decision came on the heels of HDR internally boasting about an upswing in stock value. I understand we don't work in tech, but some decency and understanding of circumstance would have been appreciated here. We want to work, but when our work is tied to servers that are down due to statewide power outages there is truly nothing we could do.

Pros

Solid benefits, great people and HR support

Cons

Really poor management and lack of leadership, conservative values that were impressed on employees, pay could have been more equitable, very male-dominant company
