Pros

Office Management and employee are supportive and great people to work alongside. Very good competitive benefit package.

Cons

Corporate layoff policy is a huge negative. Corporate is a hypocrite considering when you're hired they request that you submit a two (2) week employment resignation notice, however, when company needs to layoff employees its policy is to cut you loose on the spot and the severance package is a JOKE. Corporate's layoff policy is inconsiderate of its employees. I would have given HDR 5 stars but the aforementioned is a HUGE negative with employees.

Pros

Employee-owned firm with high return on investment. Company stock consistently increased by at least 10% every year I was there. Diverse markets and projects; HDR had an expert on staff for any challenge a client could face. The firm also has a robust employee development program, especially for young employees.

Cons

Headquartered in Nebraska and led by a group of men that have been buddies for years. Virtually no diversity in top-level leadership. I always found it interesting that the firm advocates for sustainability and environmentalism while also serving mining and "big oil" clients. Current employees also shared recently that the firm was considering going after Trump's wall until employees fought back. Very much a big business trying to make money and get bigger.

Pros

Employee ownership is better than the rest of the consulting firms The company has no debt; manages its finances carefully and conservatively Easy to network with other offices and staff throughout the country

Cons

Headquarters is in Omaha; different approach to business than on the coasts Risk adverse (which is sometimes a good thing, sometimes not) Heavy administrative burden on project managers
