      Formerly Great Company that Has Lost It's Way

      Pros

      Many employees are highly motivated and skilled in their areas of expertise. Large national presence allows for many projects of large scale and complexity.

      Cons

      Other than for cutting staff, the Architecture management team has not one whit as to how deal with market conditions. The HDR of old is gone and senior management is dominated by political animals and bean counters in Omaha. Most of the people who built HDR up from the 1990's buyout are retired or soon will be shortly.

      a bad company to work with

      Pros

      people in general work there are nice. the company next to the high way and shopping mall - easy to get there. if you know how the play the politics, it's the place to go.

      Cons

      the company is in the closing down mood. bad management and lack skills on senior level cross all the dept. lots of clients are not using this firm anymore. no one is happy in the office. layoff happened many times - lots of good stuffs were let go, and so call the core people that over paid were stay- some of them don't know how to use computer and don't have regular 4 years degress.

      Pros

      It was a nice sized office with about 30 people. Highly collaborative projects, nice to work together with people of different backgrounds and expertise. Nice opportunity to work with a few people with 40 years of experience, experts (healthcare architecture) By being a hard worker and showing initiative, my responsibility level gradually increased.

      Cons

      Sometimes I wished I could have more involvement in the earlier stages of projects, which were usually done by the senior guys with little outside input.
