Pros

- You receive a pretty comprehensive crash course in the ins and outs of the most common highly skilled immigration petition types - Will be working with incredibly talented and kind coworkers - Okay benefits though these could be significantly improved - If you enjoy learning about research, you get to interact with a fair amount of interesting work - Opportunities for advancement (SEE CONS) - Good preparation for other positions and a future career in the field

Cons

- The most prominent issue with this company is its management or lack thereof. Management is utterly detached from the issues plaguing this company and any real leadership is absent. You'll see this through policy changes that stymie the workflow, in a largely unmanageable caseload if you do seek opportunities for advancement, and in harsh punishments for errors stemming from the unmanageable workload given to employees. - The representation of the payscale, particularly for writers, is unrealistic. The company uses a predatory and infantilizing performance metric that prioritizes quantity of work over quality of work to make writers eligible for "discretionary" bonuses and artificially inflate their otherwise uncompetitive salaries for this type of work. You will have the opportunity to take on extra work for extra pay, but most writers become reliant on constantly working overtime and taking extra work to actually make the wages reasonable. - If you do opt for advancement, you will interact more and more with the frustrated clientele and with the structural deficiencies of this company. Simply put, the company has a staggering personnel issue that makes it impossible dedicate time and care to your work without becoming backlogged. Not only has there been no attempts to ameliorate this issue, this issue has actually accelerated over the years with no real input from "leadership" regarding attempts to address this. - Management will regard you as disposable. Regardless of your position, regardless of your advancement, you will be forced to fight and claw for minor pay increases to accompany drastic increases in your responsibilities. There are frequent opportunities for advancement here because there is constant turnover for nearly every position. - Because of the mismanagement of this company, its personnel, and its caseload, you will frequently not be given adequate training or support to succeed in your role and will have to learn a lot as you go.

Pros

I wish I could name one.

Cons

Long hours, not enough pay, forced to work in office unless they’re bribing you to stay by dangling remote work in your nose. Can’t keep a team longer than a year because it sucks so much.
