Pros

Compared to many other firms in NY, the starting salary was high, and they give "merit" increases annually. Also, because they can't retain any mid-level staff, entry level get a lot of challenging work from the start.

Cons

Too many senior level people with no real room for growth and development of the younger staff. In a lot of ways it seems to be an office people come to make high salary before retiring. The senior level management are all rail engineers, so every other department gets slighted in project pursues. And they are horrific with promotions. You continue to develop yourself and your responsibilities and you get no merit for it. People wait 3-7 years for a promotion that is suppose to be every two. Part of this is they are currently obsessed with becoming the largest office in the firm, so they care about hiring more then development and growth.

Great company to work for depending on the Division you end up in

Pros

The Company has great benefits, and very competitive salaries, some divisions and office are better than others to work in.

Cons

The company is split into 6 divisions the divisions are all run independently by a division president, some divisions are managed much better than others. Some managers push hard for employees not to use their vacation time to keep billable time high. There is a bit of cronyism that occurs throughout the company, its much worse in some divisions than others. I have seen a number of highly qualified people get passed up for promotions to unqualified individuals who had connections or relationships with Manager, or higher up managers that force the hire onto the hiring manager.
