Pros

I have never worked with so many smart people in one place! Very enjoyable co-workers with mostly realistic expectations of how much work one can accomplish. Lots of opportunity for growth. Good support for whatever career path you are interested in pursuing. Decent benefits, they have a couple of extra floating holidays, which is nice.

Cons

If you don't have strong boundaries they will gladly let you work yourself to death. You MUST be good at saying "No”. Kind-of a dreary office environment, lots of grey walls, grey cubes, grey floors, etc. They say their mission is water quality for people around the world. But like most companies, this is about making money. And they make LOTS of money. The margins here are so high it's actually a little embarrassing. As with all Danaher company profits flow directly to the top of the food chain and to share-holders.

Pros

Challenging work environment and brilliant employees. Encourage questioning and risk taking. Most people have a great education and strong work experience.

Cons

Long hours, early meetings with Europe. If you do your job well you'r expected to do it better the next time with fewer resources and a less time. Inefficient employees are left to fend for themselves until they quit, not a lot of mentoring from upper management.

Pros

They have your typical corporate benefits of 401K, combined sick days and vacation, medical dental vision health plan, and free parking.

Cons

Saving pennies is more important than retaining people. Turnover is the highest in the industry because of harsh treatment of the employees. White collar jobs are being outsourced to China and India on an increasing pace over the last several years. Lastly, if you are in your 40's don't even bother to apply, age discrimination is denied but practiced steadily.
