Pros

Some great heritage brands, sadly being value-engineered into nothing now

Cons

C Suite are all buddies with conventional CPG backgrounds, with no understanding or respect for natural, health-minded Hain consumers. CCO hellbent on micromanaging not just his own function (hence why turnover is so high on the sales team as people get fed up with him), but operations, finance, marketing, and R&D functions as well. Because of his close friendship with CEO, very few people challenge him, so he gets away with it. R&D leadership tasked with value engineering existing products, as opposed to focusing on new innovations. Regularly brings in consultants who are old friends to run innovation and design-to-value “workshops” which yield few tangible results and seems to work in a complete silo from marketing. The way investments are prioritized is purely self-serving to the C Suite. In my relatively short tenure, SLT members hired and fired at least half a dozen different consulting agencies to do about the same jobs. No investment made in retaining talent. Nonexistent employee benefits programs, and 401k is an absolute joke. Exceptionally talented people get overlooked for promotions in favor of those who have cozied up to CCO. Shows you just how little SLT cares about retaining and nurturing talent.

Missing the mark

Pros

Discounted snacks, shorter work day if you aren't tied to your desk, town halls where employees can ask questions, good parental leave benefits

Cons

Basically everything else. Hours are brutal, a lot of teams come in early and stay late due to massive workload in part from being understaffed but also due to pressure from management. Managers and employees seem extra burned out. HR tries to organize events but when you have questions they seem fake and disorganized. Just getting the offer took 6+ weeks. Its hard to get accurate information on brands when we are the ones making them. Marketing and sales seem are so overloaded emails and phone calls are never returned. You have to be at corporate to track people down for answers. Until the overworking culture and fakeness of HR is fixed, stay away.

Pros

Amazing people who are so, so talented and wonderful brands. Good work-life balance if you have the right manager. Beautiful office.

Cons

Lack of diversity, career path, transparency, investment in brands. The new leadership is aggressive and demoralizing. Old boys club. They are consistently making sports references and I've seen good people get thrown under the bus on company wide emails. Lay-offs are always around the corner. There has become a heavy air at the company and there is hostility between the cross-functional teams. It is really sad to see so many people and brands being deflated due to the leadership. The worst part is that they are okay with this, having said bad things about our consumers and people who have left the company. You are so shareholder focused that you have lost sight of employees, customers, consumers, brands. In today's retail landscape this internal focus is going to lose, we've already seen it with other CPGs.
