Pros

Field work, when the weather is nice its a blessing to be outside. Company discount if you ordered anything the company sells The time between christmas and new years was always paid time off unless you had to go in for an emergency call. Small company, less than 20 people usually 10$ per day stipend for being on call Paultry 100$ tool allowance PER YEAR barely coveres replacing worn out personal tools

Cons

Again, field work, weather can be problematic. Must provide own tools, requires purchase of over 700$ in specialized electrical tools for troubleshooting power generation equipment that the company WILL NOT help you purchase as the tool allowance doesnt kick in until you've been there for a year. On call every other week, have to remain within an hour of showing up to the Dinwiddie based office. They flat refuse to allow on call technicians to bring their company vehicles home to improve response time and will not allow you to clock in when on an emergency call until you arrive at the office and get in your company vehicle. They only pay you straight time when responding to calls unless you go over your 40. "You want a paid vacation? You have to show me some loyalty. Thats why we only give paid vacation to people that have worked here for 4 years or more." Quote from the owner, Tanya Hale, when asked about why it takes so long to earn vacation time. Its only 1 week paid vacay and it cant be a week you're on call witch if you're a service tech is every other week the entire year. Zero paid sick time. Ever. Healthcare options are unaffordable Dont work for these people, you will be micro managed, you will be gossiped about and hear about it, you will be demeaned and talked down too and them gaslight for pointing out your being talked down too. You will be thrown into the job with no "formal" instruction of any kind and trained by someone who calls his boss and asks him how to do his job everyday. She makes you sign a Non Compete agreement that bars you from working in the same field for 2 years after you end working for her but doesnt disclose that in Virginia that an non compete is not valid and can not be enforced if you make less than 50k a year. Lastly the owner flat out doesnt trust her own employees to do their jobs so she sets up a dozen safety nets to try to catch mistakes but this has made the processes so complex it causes more mistakes than it catches. Again, I wasted 5 years here hoping it would get better because the work they do is interesting and the actual job part of it can be enjoyable. But it only gets worse. Dont work for these people
