A great company with great growth potential
Pros
With the addition of Baker Hughes, Halliburton is now positioned to compete as potentially the number one service provider. The culture is very strong and the remaining core staff are all very accomplished and strong individuals. They have a strong global footprint and provide all of the essential services required in todays upstream O&G market.
Cons
They have yet to complete the acquisition of Baker Hughes, and this is a monumental task as these are two very large companies. More lay-offs can result due to expertise overlap even in a growing O&G market. Also, the cased hole and completion side of Halliburton is much stronger than the formation evaluation side, and this imbalance may take some time to rectify when the market improves.
