Pros

Working at Halo has been more than just a job for me; it’s been a career. If you’re someone looking for a quick stepping stone, this may not be the right place. Halo thrives on long-term vision, loyalty, and culture, which is exactly why I’ve stayed. Even though I’m currently a Regional Director, my journey at Halo has been relatively short. What’s remarkable is how quickly my career has progressed. I’ve explored many different roles and given each one my all, and that fast-paced environment has allowed me to grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined. There are three key pillars I look for in a career, and Halo has exceeded all of them: Problem Solving: At my core, I’m a problem solver, and Halo consistently provides me with opportunities to tackle new and unique challenges. Whether it's on the support desk, client implementations, sales, or team collaboration, every day offers something different. I thrive on working toward solutions that genuinely make a difference. I could never stay at a job where every day felt the same. The dynamic nature of the work at Halo keeps me engaged and excited for what’s next. Engagement: When I first joined Halo, I was set on becoming a developer. However, I quickly realized that path felt too isolated. I wanted more interaction, and at Halo, I found it. Whether it’s working as a consultant, speaking with customers, or collaborating with my team, I’ve never felt more engaged. The constant communication and diverse opportunities to connect with others have made the work environment incredibly fulfilling. Opportunity: This is where Halo truly stands out. I’ve had opportunities here that most people only dream of. Originally from South Africa, I moved to the UK, and while I loved the company, I struggled with the country's culture and weather. I was open about my challenges, and Halo’s senior staff not only understood but offered me the chance to move back to South Africa and continue my work, or transition to other offices like the West Coast in the US or Melbourne, Australia. After considering my options, I took the leap to the US, where I thrived, progressing from a junior consultant to a senior consultant. The journey didn’t stop there—I was offered the chance to travel the world for Halo, spreading the word about our mission. It was during one of these trips that I met my wife. Later, Halo supported my decision to move to Florida, offering me the opportunity to open the East Coast office—a role that truly felt like the next big step in my career. Beyond career growth, Halo offers incredible benefits that truly stand out. One of the biggest perks is the unlimited PTO policy. This isn’t just a policy on paper—it’s genuinely unlimited. No one questions how much time you take off, as long as you're delivering great results, keeping clients and colleagues happy, and doing your job well. The PTO is auto-approved when submitted, providing an amazing sense of trust and flexibility. The travel opportunities at Halo are endless. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit places I once only dreamed of. Halo also gives you the freedom to manage your schedule and work hours in a way that suits you. They support what works for you, as long as you’re achieving results. There’s a strong emphasis on self-management and making your own decisions. While you’re always welcome to seek advice from senior members, the responsibility and autonomy to make decisions are yours. At Halo, mistakes aren’t something to be feared. I’ve made my share of errors, but instead of feeling like my career was at risk, my mentor always asked, “Did you learn from it?” This mentality of growth and learning, rather than punishment, has been integral to my development here. In summary, Halo has been a place of incredible opportunity, growth, and autonomy. If you’re looking for a career where you’re trusted, given room to grow, and supported in both successes and learning moments, this is the place for you.

Cons

Intense and Rewarding Workload: The job can sometimes feel intense and stressful, especially given the level of autonomy you have in managing your own schedule. While this independence is incredibly empowering and rewarding, it can also feel overwhelming during particularly busy periods. The intensity, however, is balanced by the sense of accomplishment and personal growth that comes from taking on significant responsibility. Communication of Changes: Due to the fast-paced, dynamic nature of Halo, direction changes are frequent. While this adaptability keeps the company innovative, there are times when these shifts may not be communicated clearly to all teams. As a result, it can sometimes take a little while for everyone to align on the new direction, leading to some initial confusion. Full In-Office Policy: Halo maintains a full in-office policy, aimed at fostering learning, knowledge transfer, and a strong company culture by encouraging collaboration between senior and junior employees. While this provides great opportunities for growth, I understand that some people may prefer the flexibility to work from home. Although the company allows remote work when needed, the general expectation is to be in the office, which might not suit everyone’s preferences. Casual Work Culture: Halo has a more relaxed, results-oriented culture, which may not be a fit for individuals seeking a traditional corporate environment. The focus here is on collaboration and performance rather than adhering to formal business attire and corporate norms, which can be a departure from more traditional office settings. Fast-Paced Development: Halo’s software evolves quickly, which means processes and systems may change from week to week. While I personally enjoy the constant learning this pace requires, I understand that it can be challenging for some to keep up with the frequent changes and adapt to new ways of working.

Pros

Career Development & Global Opportunities: Halo offers incredible opportunities for both personal and professional growth. I began my journey on the graduate scheme in the UK office and, within five months, was given the chance to relocate to Australia. This international move helped me build a solid foundation of skills and experiences early in my career. Currently, I’m contributing to the setup of our newest office in Melbourne, Florida — a testament to the company’s trust in its people and commitment to employee development. Supportive Graduate-Focused Environment: Halo exclusively hires graduates, creating a unique environment filled with ambition, energy, and peer support. Working alongside individuals at a similar stage in their careers fosters strong camaraderie and a sense of community. The workplace culture balances professionalism with a social, “university-like” atmosphere outside of working hours, which makes it both productive and enjoyable. Meritocracy and Flexibility in Role Design: One of Halo’s standout qualities is its meritocratic culture. From day one, I was given the autonomy to explore different functions — primarily in sales and consultancy — and shape a role that aligned with my strengths and interests. Career progression is genuinely performance-based, with no barriers imposed by age or tenure. Guidance from senior team members is always available, but there's a healthy level of independence that accelerates learning and growth. Team-Based Sales Culture: Unlike traditional sales environments, Halo promotes a collaborative, team-first approach. There are no individual commissions — instead, success is measured against team-wide goals and shared achievements. This creates a supportive, low-ego environment where knowledge-sharing and joint problem-solving are the norm, rather than internal competition. Above-Market Compensation: Halo consistently pays above the market rate for roles, even in regional locations like Stowmarket. Despite not being based in London, salaries are competitive with London benchmarks, which is a major benefit, especially for those looking to progress financially while living outside of high-cost areas. Vibrant Workplace Culture and Perks: The company invests in creating an engaging and enjoyable workplace. Regular social events, creative workshops, and group outings help build strong team bonds and maintain high morale. One of the most unique perks has been the travel opportunities. Through my work with Halo, I’ve visited multiple countries, an experience I wouldn’t have had access to without the company’s global footprint and support. Open Office Culture & Knowledge Sharing: Halo’s offices are structured to promote open communication and mentorship. New graduates are seated alongside senior leadership, enabling fast and effective knowledge transfer. This setup reinforces company values and helps embed the Halo Way into daily operations, ensuring that culture and best practices are maintained as the company scales. Unlimited Vacation Policy: The company’s unlimited holiday policy is a significant advantage. It allows employees to take time off based on need rather than fixed allocations, which has been particularly valuable for me after relocating to the U.S., where standard PTO policies can be restrictive. Long-Term Vision and Stability: As a privately owned company, Halo is not driven by the short-term pressures that come with external investors or public markets. This provides a more stable and thoughtful growth trajectory, where the focus is on sustainable development rather than meeting quarterly targets. Employees can plan their futures with confidence, knowing the company is committed to long-term success.

Cons

High Responsibility from Day One: Halo places a lot of trust in new graduates, offering significant responsibility from the very beginning. While this creates an accelerated learning curve, it can also be overwhelming for some. The environment is fast-paced, and expectations are high. Those who prefer a more structured or gradual onboarding process may find the adjustment challenging. Not Suited for Short-Term Seekers: The company’s model is designed for individuals who are looking to build a long-term career. Those seeking a short-term role, temporary experience, or a resume booster may not find Halo to be the right fit. The culture strongly favours commitment, ownership, and growth over time. In-Office Expectation: Halo maintains a 100% in-office work policy as part of its broader strategy to encourage collaboration, mentorship, and cultural integration — all key pillars of its graduate-focused model. While the company is flexible when needed (for example, in cases of illness or personal matters), remote work is not offered as a permanent arrangement. This approach may not appeal to individuals who value fully remote or hybrid work setups. The in-person model does enable faster development and deeper connections, but it may not align with everyone’s preferred work style or personal commitments.
