Pros

Easily accessible on the west end of Guelph. Has a great potential to become a super profitable company and an industry leader with the right management in place.

Cons

Lack of leadership at the management level. Company still operates like it did 30-40 years ago. Obvious operational problems are ignored by management. There are too many incompetent people that should have been walked out the door years ago. Employee training is weak at best. There is an internal culture that prides itself on being good at correcting mistakes quickly - practise makes perfect! Various departments are compartmentalized by their managers and do not act as a team for the common good of the company. Decisions tend to be made with kneejerk reactions; use of soud data analysis is rare at best. There is a serious lack in engineering and planning capability. Also, the air quality and plant cleanliness is poor for todays standards.

Pros

Excellent wage, benefits and pension, supervisors are good people to work for, coworkers generally get along well and are willing to help each other when needed, fairly relaxed work environment

Cons

Management sometimes allows those with a poor work ethic to slide by and count on those who work harder to pick up the slack. Engineering does not update instructions in a timely fashion and it is expected that operators remember all the information and catch the errors from engineering (almost a daily occurrence), occasionally poor planning to order supplies results in downtime on your job.

Pros

The people on the manufacturing floor are great to work with and it has a good atmosphere. Everybody is willing to help each other no matter what the job is.

Cons

Equipment is over 30-40 years old and they still do things the way they always have and don't seem willing to improve or change. They have a continuous improvement program in place called "Transform" but many ideas or suggestions are never realized or fully implemented because the company won't spend the money. They have several employees working well past retirement age so this keeps younger skilled workers from retaining any job stability when there is a layoff. Company is not willing to buy them out, again because of money. They frequently layoff as well because of a poor sales team so job stability is not very good.
