Housekeepers don't receive your tips - other staff members take the tips prior to the housekeepers cleaning the rooms. Management ignores the issue, and there is no way to file complaints with upper management/corporate. The company takes advantage of low-income workers with poor English skills by not only removing this extra source of income, but also building schedules that effectively prevent taking of breaks and force overtime on workers. While management tells housekeepers they can take breaks, the same management team complains when workers aren't cleaning rooms fast enough (typical schedule of 12-16 rooms per day, with an average time of 45 minutes to clean the rooms as per hotel standard). Housekeeper training was limited to follow this housekeeper with more experience and learn what they do. There was no specialized training on chemical use or risk of musculoskeletal injuries, despite regulations requiring the trainings. In short, the company plans on churning through workers with no concern for their welfare, knowing that someone will be desperate enough to work there.
