Pros

Laid back Low stress Great compensation Great management cooperation with time off Great management overall If you are a people person, it's a great job to work on your skills

Cons

It's a very, very boring job at times. Sometimes when you're there working the 3-11 shift, it hits 10, no one walks in, and you're just bored trying to kill time until your shift ends.

Some of the cons of working for Hampton Inn is there is not any employee advancement; Poor communication between management and staff and this translate into poor customer services; dissatisfaction of most employees; Poor employee moral.

Pros

A name people recognize, usually it's the most upscale hotel in small towns, pays a little better than the economy chains, Hilton hotel discounts, during slow times you can surf the net or work on homework, since it's 24/7, you may work a lot of weekends, but you have some days in the middle of the week to take care of doctor appointments, etc....On a M-F 9-5 job, you would have to take time off.

Cons

Atleast in my area, no room for advancement, pay is still low, but slightly higher than the economy chains I worked for in the past, some customer are obsessed with their membership level and throw it around to get special rates or favors, a bit "stuffier" than economy chains, we have benefits but they are limited, no sick pay (just vacation and you start accuring until 90 days), little support from management, managers take side of the customers even when they are wrong, managers who haven't worked the front desk in years than expect us to sell out and tell us what we are doing wrong.
