Pros

Family oriented company that values its employees and treats everyone with respect.

Cons

Being so nice can lead to a lack of accountability between departments and poor execution at times.

Pros

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of pro's. The company does provide lunches often. One departments leader things providing a lunch once in a while is good enough, cheaper than having to give a decent raise or bonus. Wait, according to the leader of that department bonuses are not offered at Hampton, wink, wink.

Cons

If you want to work for an unethical organization that only caters to a very select few, this is the company for you. The slogan "a better way everyday" is nothing but talk. This company is still operating in the 19th century and while they promote the concept of change, where things really need to be changed they ignore. If you are a Lumber Trader you are set. If you are a sales assistant, no matter how many times or how bad you mess something up costing the company money, you will no be held accountable but rewarded with pay raised and bonuses. Some members of senior management indicate there is no bonus program and actually believe this is the case, these individuals are out of touch and don't belong in the positions they are currently assigned. A managers who is oblivious to everything around him was recently promoted to VP. It is now obvious Hampton Senior Management is as oblivious as the individual recently promoted or he would have never been rewarded with this title. Lots of people leaving Hampton these days this is just the beginning. The flood is minimal today, not for long though. The job market is strong in Portland, many people are looking so don't be surprised Hampton, its going to happen like it or not and there is nothing you can do about it. Look at the rail department, wow, what a revolving door over there. Why is this? Ask the oblivious group leader who was recently promoted, he doesn't know why. What a joke.
