Thank you for sharing your input, although it concerns us that between the camaraderie of coworkers, generous benefits and comfortable work environment at the store, you were unable to find a single positive thing to say about the company-- after working with us for three years. If you were still with the company, we would have urged you to reach out to your HR representative. We hope that wherever you have moved on to, it's more agreeable for you. Good luck.

Pros

It's a job.

Cons

* Non-existing safety training. Attitude and mantra is to "Spiderman" it. Example: Climb the shelf without a ladder to get something down. A female employee had fingers cut off by a huge defective 5' safe when she tried to move it by herself on a hand truck. It was not strapped down. Safety training had been stopped years before as 'too expensive' to do. Because nothing is in place to fast track workman's comp, no attempt was made to reattach the fingers by the hospital. Now the company blames the victim and they 'cut' her hours as well. * NO SECURITY! There are NO security cameras at this store located in a really bad neighborhood. The local "tweakers" know this and daily come in to steal because they know they can get away with it. Just recently the store was robbed at gun point. The cashier victimized by the robbery did not get training on what to do in such a situation. Neither was she offered professional counseling after the fact to help her cope with her ordeal. She is now terrified to return to work. * Because only part time hours are given, some people have to get a second part time job to make ends meet. Agreed availability is routinely ignored and employees will be scheduled in conflict with their other job or transportation restrictions (i.e., Bus schedules. They don't operate 24/7).

Pros

I enjoyed the subject matter product and helping customers out also while being able to learn about useful things and the people besides management were very good people.

Cons

Rude, disrespectful, and smart mouthed management. Had one assistant manager that ruined everything about the job. Corporate policies have unrealistic expectations on minimum waged part time employees or at least at the store I worked at did. Every time I worked it was almost guaranteed that I would be asked to stay over. I worked for five months at hft and during the time I worked there 11 people either got fired or quit because of just the miserable atmosphere that job had.
