Pros

Some really nice, hardworking people, benefits are good. Could be a great place to work, but...

Cons

No training program, inconsistent management, stressful beyond anything ever seen before. Very few stay longer than a few months for good reason.

Not a nice place to work

Pros

Some staff are truly dedicated to the health system.

Cons

If you are not in the inner circle you will pay the price of long hours, poor reviews/poor increases in salary. Reviews are not held timely and back pay is not provided. If you report to a VP they can get by with bullying and harassment even if reported to the CFO. If you are from UTMB you willl have a great work environment. If you have extensive experience and have never been a part of UTMB then you will not last at this organization

Pros

The salary and benefits were sufficient.

Cons

Some departments have unreasonable layers of supervisors and managers (accounting), none of whom will take responsibility for their own mistakes. Every time the supervisor/manager make mistakes they hold their underlings accountable not themselves - this has unfairly caused damaged to the reputations both professional and personal of many non-supervisory hard working employees. Many unqualified supervisors/managers. Many supervisors/managers who are not supervisor/management material and aren't capable of treating those they supervise with any respect and dignity. Many career employees 10+ 20+ 30+ years of employment who are not dedicated - they just can't get employment anywhere else! Numerous employees who work excessively for little money and then there are supervisors/managers collecting ridiculous salaries for keeping their chairs warm and making work life miserable for those they manage. Supervisors/managers can take administrative actions against employees who stand up to their abuse but employees have no recourse for the abuse that is inflicted upon them except to tolerate it or find another job. Good place to get experience if you can work in this type of atmosphere.
