Pros

You can be bad at your job but as long as you're nice, you can stay there 30 years!

Cons

No tech, place is like an old folks home. Everyone you work with or meet has been there 20 years and does not want to hear any new ideas or change. The company wants to be seen as high end but all they care about is trying to show low prices. If you don't do what you are told you will get reprimanded by at least 4 senior citizens. No one has any light in their eyes and shows fake enthusiasm when their manager is around.

Pros

Benefits are good, keeps you on your feet, can listen to music whenever overnight

Cons

It’s obvious even to customers that not all Harris Teeters are uniformly the same. You have your newer glossier stores and then older ones that are dingy, murky and not well maintained at all. All under the same company name. Also there’s way too many bad salaried managers as the company is very lax about reprimanding them for bad behavior on the job. They’re pretty much free to do what they want with no repercussions. Also they don’t uphold the same standards for all their workers. They are quick to hire people with disabilities and not hold them to any standard whatsoever, which leaves the rest of the team to pick up their slack. They’re not expected to work like everyone else, the only expectation they have is showing up and some don’t even do that. Meanwhile they stay employed because management doesnt want to go through any hurdles with corporate, all while being overly critical of the workers who are actually there to do their job.

Pros

You get paid. You get a paid vacation days.

Cons

The DMs all treat you like crap (unless you’re part of an elite few) there are weekly audits or inspections that cause you to give all your days off back. The managers are the answers to every call out. With the staffing situations they come in and take you over the coals telling you they could accomplish this task in 20 minutes. Some stores have a team of 4 to 5 managers while many only have 2-3 so try hat means if one is on vacation a manager has zero days off. This is the WORST company ever and don’t be fooled by their promise to be a store manager!!! Get it in writing. They will also promise you lunches but there is rarely a person to cover your lunch so it’s a working lunch heavily peppered with calls and interruptions. You will be treated very poorly by the DM on up and every specialist or corporate person that comes in your store to visit. They are terrible!
