Pros

Flexible schedule as long as management allows. The work allows sitting on at least one day to get tags and signs sorted. The people (coworkers and regular customers) are what kept me here.

Cons

Price discrepancies and major malfunction as a corporate level creates robust and chaotic issues for in-store associates such as myself and my team. Working overnight for 12 hours or 12 hours early morning (like 1am to 1pm, 2am or 2pm, and so on) creates lots of fatigue. The unrealistic workload is expected to be completed by 2 people or 3/4 if you’re lucky to have additional help. Management does not hold people accountable, and reprimands key associates which tanks moral. This creates an environment where weak associates get to stay and people who work hard become burnt out and undervalued. The corporate pricing problems are so rampant that we can no longer keep up with the corrections, but scan teams are still held accountable for price integrity audits even though we hear no communication back about pricing errors we send off to be corrected. This job used to be great and I had a lot of passion for it but burnout and very poor management has made this an undesirable position. Scanning coordinators are not considered department heads like they used to, so even though we do more physical work and longer hours (12 hour shifts etc) we do not get the benefits like large bonuses. Management will put retention hires / troubled associates in your the scanning department just to avoid holding them accountable / laying them off which turns into an unwanted associate in a department creating unwanted errors. This job is a clear image of why Harris teeter fails- they want the benefits of hard work without using logic to set their teams up for success and they will burn out good workers because they tip toe around bad ones.there is no ladder for this position, or room for improvement. The positions starts at 16.50 but caps at around 20.
