Pros

Especially if you're in a union-eligible position, you're really taken care of by both HR and the union if you know who to ask and what to ask for. You get a good deal of time off, lots of healthcare options, and depending on who you work for, excellent support from colleagues.

Cons

They definitely prioritize the needs and interests of faculty, often at the expense of great staff. I've seen turnover of three employees under one faculty in a year, including several weeks or months of vacancy in between. My recommendation for anyone applying is to get a sense of whether you'll be working for anyone difficult.

Pros

Good vacation and holiday pay. Good benefits for working families

Cons

Be cautious, there are frequent intention to expand roles and responsibilities, but no a additional resources. Scope creep was the biggest downside of working for this university to the point where I could not recommend them as an employer.
