Pros

Priority to new grads and growing their own. Diverse company with something to excite everyone. If you prove yourself, the company will support you.

Cons

Career management relies on internal networking, which can be a pro or a con. You have to learn how to benefit from the system. The mining slump has been difficult for morale and head count.

Pros

Employee shareholder owned, with a strong company culture. Very flat organizational structure. Top of the class engineers doing the work, and run by engineers with business sense, who understand changing work processes are necessary to remain strong. Company has patents for it's innovative designs!

Cons

Company ownership (shares) are by invite only, and criteria to become a shareholder is subjective, add highly dependent on your managers networking skills. Potential candidates for employment should join the company for the immediate compensation and great career development, and not future share potential.

Pros

Great engineering consulting company. Engineers are treated well from what I heard. Not so good for non-engineers such as support staff (Facilities, IT, Accounting, HR, etc.) Non-engineers are treated as an expense because you don't bring in the money unlike engineers. Group RRSP Pension Good for young people since you'll have the opportunity to learn Travel opportunities if you are on a project (short to long term projects)

Cons

Low salary, below market standards for non-engineers Typical hours is 8-5 or 9 hours a day and usually you end up staying for 10 hours + because of work load. If you include travel time then you are basically away from your family or home for 12 hours or more.
